Heartburn

Standard

I was sleeping perfectly when I was awakened by painful heartburn. I decided to write it a haiku poem since it won’t leave me alone.

The fire burns within,

destroying all that surrounds.

Everlasting pain.

Well, goodnight all. May your food digest painlessly and your dreams be filled with sweetness and love. ✌🏻️❤️

The Mask

The Mask

This face of mine is a mask,

a lie.

I hide the truth from the world,

from myself.

I long for happiness,

contentment.

Instead I am left with darkness,

indifference.

This disease controls me,

consumes me.

I am left an empty shell,

a void.

My mind and body are weary,

exhausted.

To see the true me is to see disappointment,

despair.

So, I put on this smile once more,

and hide behind the mask.
